| Bird Watching
|
|---|---|
The group gets together once a month and we usually travel to different locations hoping to see some interesting birds. We are most definitely not an elite group of twitchers rushing round the countryside looking for the latest rarity but welcome all abilities and will be delighted to help and advise anyone wanting to take a greater interest in the birds they see around them. Please contact the leader if you have any questions about birds you have seen, or if you would like to know more about bird watching. | |

| Bridge
|
|---|---|
| Intermediate Bridge. Bridge is a fascinating and absorbing game which keeps the mind alert and active without being physically demanding. The group is not suitable for beginners but for anyone who has some knowledge of the game and wants to improve We usually have a lesson, based on the Standard English (Acol) system, followed by practice play and friendly discussion. We expect to make lots of mistakes but hope to learn from them A course of lessons for complete beginners is also offered when there is enough demand. The group meets every Monday at 2 pm. We have been meeting regularly since March 1995, and during that time have generated enough enthusiasm and support to start the Fairford Bridge Club. | |

| Garden
|
|---|---|
| Our group has a specific interest in garden design, as well as planting and growing.
Through the summer months we visit members gardens, and others open to the
public. We look for inspiration and good design features, and try to apply what we
have seen to our own gardens As a group we have planned new gardens, redesigned some members gardens, made suggestions for problem areas in others and advised on planting schemes In the winter we have discussions on horticultural topics, planting advice and garden problem solving. We also have a regular exchange of plants, seeds and ideas. | |

| Traditional Jazz
|
|---|---|
| The group meets monthly to listen to recordings.
Our common starting point is a mutual interest
in the British Traditional Jazz boom of the 1950s & 60s From that we go back to the origins of jazz in New Orleans, in ragtime music, negro blues singers, street parade bands, and the music of New Orleans dance halls We entertain ourselves and widen our knowledge of the subject as we listen to and exchange views on old recordings and on more recent developments in traditional jazz in the USA, Britain, the rest of Europe and even Japan. | |

| Model Club
|
|---|---|
| We meet every week, sometimes in two groups, for a varied programme featuring '00' gauge electric trains, running steam engines on the kitchen table, boating and flying or showing off our latest acquisitions. We have a lake for our boats (courtesy of the local Scout troop) and a field at a local farm for flying our gliders. Our intention is to support each other, sort out problems of design or function and more than anything to enjoy ourselves. Ladies are more than welcome | |
