We
meet every Wednesday morning at the car park of St. Thomas's RC
Church in Horcott Road, Fairford, except for the winter months.
The game is played within the guidelines of the French game of
Petanque and is pretty low on energy demand. Members
usually bring their own set of boules but spare sets can be
rustled up.

Short Tennis
|
|---|---|
| We meet every Monday afternoon in the Palmer Hall in Fairford. The game is played on a Badminton court using a low net and a spongy ball.. The amount of energy needed is comparable to that needed for social tennis in the local courts except that there isn't as far to travel to retrieve missed balls! We play doubles and singles, depending on the number of members that turn up as there is only one court - there is not a need for a weekly commitment and participants need not attend for the whole period. | |

Straddlers Walking Group
|
|---|---|
The "Straddlers" in Fairford & District U3A aim to do distances of 8-10 miles in a day. Sandwiches are taken as a pub lunch, attractive as it sounds, can be a bit wearisome when you still have 4 or more miles to go. | |

Striders Walking Group
|
|---|---|
The Striders were formed to meet requests from members to walk a distance between the 'Straddlers' and 'Walking with a Pub Lunch' and so we walk about 6 miles and finish with a pub lunch. The pace is a little faster than the 4-5 mile walk because we need to get to the pub for lunchtime! | |

Strollers Walking Group
|
|---|---|
|
The Strollers is a gentle walking group. Its basis is: 3 to 4 miles; hills (if any) gentle; stiles (if any) easy; pace as fast as the slowest; pub lunch at the end. We meet on the fourth Friday of every month (excepting August and December).. | |

10-00 a.m. start
Each walk is circular, about 4 to 5 miles long, returning to the Pub around 12-30 p.m. Walking is at a gentle pace, though we can't avoid some stiles and mud
The first walk was in March 1995, meeting at the Swan in Southrop with a circuit in the River Leach valley. We celebrated our fiftieth walk by returning to the Swan for a variation of the first walk, and an excellent lunch followed by a skittles match
We celebrated the hundreth walk in October 2000 with an good lunch at the Crown in Cerney Wick. The group has savoured the food at over sixty different pubs and are still finding more. Some people just come for the lunch!. We have a special Christmas event which attracts around forty members making it one of the highlights of the year.
Gillian Bilbrough runs a gentle Yoga class (for people unable to manage more strenuous exercise) at the Community Centre on Tuesdays from 10.15am to 11.15am. Contact Gillian if you are interested in joining the group.
Activity Groups are shown in BOLD The Needlework Group meets on alternate Wednesday afternoons - from Wednesday 8th November The History of European Art Group generally meets on a Thursday or Friday, as decided each month in advance
